Full moon 02 August 23 in Aquarius: individual meets collective

this moon is also a sturgeon moon and reminds us that there are plenty of fish in the sea

My daughter has been asking me to go and see the new Barbie movie with her out in cinemas at the moment; I was very reluctant given the image Barbie portrayed to girls all over the world over the last 60 odd years and my own past with body image issues, anorexia and so on. However, I also didn’t want to dismiss her wish entirely; When my girlfriend asked me to join her and a group of other grown up women to watch the movie, I ended up agreeing to it and thought I check it out to see if it is ok to watch for my daughter.

I was pleasantly surprised; the overall message the movie was trying to convey was much different to the one I had expected. Empowered Barbies in all shapes, sizes, and from different cultural backgrounds running Barbie world on their terms. I guess it is a clever way to market the Barbie doll in a new light as well as create a movie, that is representative of our current times of change and if I may say so “awakening”.

The me too. Movement, Black Lives Matter, and now even the Barbie movie all have one thing in common: highlighting that it is enough! Enough hurt and segregation between humans in a collective manner.

The movie went through a couple of transitions and held up the feminine in great respect, in particular showing the need for us women to empower each other in order to be empowered; But I left the movie theatre feeling a little sad about the missed opportunity to portray a balanced way to move forward.

For those of you that are not familiar with the movie – in the end Barbie regains control over Barbie world, while all the Kens have no say and/ or input.

I would have liked to see a respectful and equal co- creation and peaceful coexistence between Barbie and Ken.

You might sit here wondering what all of this has to do with the full moon this month and personal development, well here we go:

This August moon is a sturgeon moon, it is a full moon in Aquarius and is inviting us to think about the things that no longer seem to work in our lives, the community and our world as a whole. What can we improve? What is it you would like to see changed in this world before you go?

For me, one of this, is a wish for balance, for all of us, within ourselves but also as a society.

When can we finally see that we are all here to co-create and coexist rather than compete against one another? I would like to see humans inspiring and empowering each other, no matter your race or gender, size, or shape.

While I can only speak for myself I can sense a yearn for this across our society and world, as mentioned above.

Since a collective change has to come from within a large amount of individuals, I invite you to look at how balanced you are within yourself. Is it all work, no play? Is it all kids, no time for yourself? Is it all giving but no receiving? Is it all action but no reflection? You get the idea.

Here is to our dream of a future that worships the feminine qualities like beauty, creation, intuition and nurturing and respects the strength and stability of the masculine; because put together they make a whole.

Much love to you all

Marisa
