The Art of Slowing down

Full Moon, June 2023

Reality check: we are now half way through the year 23 – yep that’s correct, swoosh - its already been 6 months.

I am sure I am not alone when I say: I want time to slow down, to enjoy life and to feel like as if I had more time available in a day.

In today’s life, saturated with the ability to reach anyone and everyone almost 24/7, the rise of youtube shorts, and tik tok videos, the need for the quick fix seems to be the norm and yet we all suffer from it in one way or another.

Time is precious and we all don’t seem to have enough of it; I know I can’t make more time, but how can I create an illusion of having more time and to be present, even in a world that seems to speed up gradually?

The answer is simple, yet I know it will be annoying for some: it is all about “the Art of slowing down!”

Some ways of slowing down which can help us create an illusion of having more time are:

  • Allow yourself to rest

  • Take a break!

  • Turn your phone off for a day!

  • Ask yourself whether the things and people you spend your time on and with are really serving you? Are those energy givers or do they suck it from you like little energy vampires?

  • Learn to say no and enjoy missing out (JOMO, the opposite of FOMO)

  • Tune in and prioritize

  • Choose to be present in the moment

But good things take time, so don’t worry if this is not a quick fix, it really is meant to be one for the long run 😉
